AGENCY OVERVIEW:
CONTACT Community Services is a not-for profit registered charity that has a long-standing history of taking a proactive approach to changing social needs in South Simcoe. Our services include: Community support programs, employment, housing and volunteer services. Our community thrift store, The Clothes Line, offers gently recycled clothing and household goods and provides support to families and individuals in need.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Resource and Information Specialist works to support clients in the “self-directed” Resource and Information (R&I) area of Employment Services (ES). The person in this position performs reception duties; communicates efficiently and effectively with internal and external customers and agencies; assists the Manager of ES in providing information on local training and employment opportunities, community service supports, occupational and training requirements and resources to support independent or “unassisted” job search.
The role of the Resource and Information Specialist is of paramount importance to the organization. The R & I Specialist serves as the first point of contact for the agency. A friendly and approachable demeanor for the position is expected. Greeting members of the public with enthusiasm, while also demonstrating active listening to be able to best support the client(s) who walk through the doors is critical. This position is responsible for capturing all intake data statistics, the specifics of which will be decided upon with the respective program areas and/or Employment Services Manager at CONTACT Community Services.

The Resource and Information Specialist will:
• Act as the central phone receptionist for CONTACT Employment Services and direct calls accordingly;
• Act as the primary contact for the agency regarding community information pertaining to the communities of South Simcoe;
• Follow standard procedures for receiving and directing calls and handling walk-in clients;
• Follow established procedures for scheduling appointments for the Employment Specialists;
• Provide an overview of program services and processes to clients and when necessary assist clients with completion of a Self-Directed Needs Assessment;
• Review client completed Needs Assessments and make determination of referral to Assisted Services;
• Provide orientation / information to clients regarding job search tools and strategies, apprenticeship training, workplace safety and the Canadian workplace;
• Monitor resource area activity: Assist clients in accessing e-mail, computers, internet, fax and photocopy equipment to support their job search;
• Provide guidance and support for clients preparing a résumé and cover letter;
• Provide information to individuals and employers who are unfamiliar with our services (either by phone or in person) and accept and communicate job postings;
• Update job board on a regular basis, both in the Centre and online
• Obtain, update and assist clients to access information and resource centre materials;
• Update and monitor all CONTACT Employment Social Media sites with job postings and relevant information
• Participate in community activities and job fairs;
• Conduct, summarize and report customer satisfaction surveys for RI clients;
• On a daily basis, ensure client data is input to the Simple CTS tracking system;
• Order and maintain appropriate levels of general supplies and office supplies to ensure efficient office operation and place orders for the agency;
• Forward all related invoices to the CONTACT Administration office in a timely manner for processing to respective staff members;
• Work cooperatively with other staff to ensure consistent and efficient reception coverage while providing excellent customer service;
• Responsible for handling petty cash and submitting records monthly;
• Proactively update the Resource Centre’s community information boards;
• Creation and distribution of quarterly CONTACT Employment Services newsletter, with support from the Employment Services Manager(ESM);
• Assist, when appropriate, with CONTACT’s fundraising events/activities;
• Facilitate resource centre workshops and outreach when coverage is required;
• Other duties as required by the position or as assigned by the ESM.
Organizational Support:
As a charity, our organization relies on fundraising activities and events. We encourage all staff to volunteer at our events/activities.
