Job Description:

General Summary:
Repairs and Installs machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
• Understanding of the construction and practical application of the various machines and equipment in the CNC machining department and overall shop equipment.
• Problem solve and repair drive systems on machines such as ball screw, linear guide, belt or direct drive, etc. as well as screw and belt type conveyor systems.
• Analyze machinery and determine the need for and interact with Service and Maintenance Specialists to be contracted to perform specific tasks on machines, equipment and the plant.
• Safely and effectively rig and handle various sizes, shapes and weights of machinery and equipment.
• Problem solve bearing issues and to effectively remove and replace various types of bearings and seals.
• Problem solve and repair various types of pumps and related valves
• Work independently on troubleshooting machinery, with minimal supervision.
• Perform repairs independently
• Troubleshoot basic electrical problems
• Perform mechanical PM’s on machinery independently
*Ability to perform prescribed duties and responsibilities outlined in Maintenance Millwright Apprentice Levels #1 and 2.
• Perform tasks at the level of completion of Advanced Apprenticeship Schooling
• Instruct both the theory and practical applications of the maintenance and repair processes and best practices to all members of the team respecting skill levels, with attention to safety, quality, cost and timing.
• Must be available and willing to travel for training, technical benchmarking, etc.
• Operate and instruct others on the Tycos Maintenance Database and Work Order system.
• Capable to operate and work on High Reach equipment • Must be available for telephone support and Call-In’s as required.
• Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and WCM initiatives
• Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards; Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
• Must be prepared and able to work on various shifts with minimum supervision
• Required to maintain communication with Team Leader and Human Resources regarding status of mandatory Schooling for Apprenticeship if enrolled
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abide by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promote safety in the workplace
• Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions / behaviours
• Participate in accident/incident investigation process
• Adhere to applicable quality systems and Support the total Tycos Management System (MAFACT, WCM, ISO-9001)
• Adhere to and promote the Magna Employee Charter; work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Tycos Employee Handbook and follow all Tycos instructions, policies and procedures

Education: • Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma is a requirement • College diploma / University degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience an asset • Successful completion of Level #3 (Advanced) Apprenticeship School Training with a Final Grade of 75% plus • Actively pursuing a Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Millwright #433A • Certificate of Qualification as Industrial Millwright #433A an asset Experience: • Experience as a Maintenance Millwright Apprentice Level #2 is a requirement • Prior experience in automotive industry or machine shop an asset Skills: • Possess a strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and their operation as well as maintenance and repair. • Possess a strong knowledge of the building and general plant systems and equipment and the ability to maintain same. • Ability to read, understand and develop all required information to complete the maintenance and repair process(s) to specifications from vendor supplied prints, schematics, data and instructions with regards to hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical components and operation. • Have a working knowledge of electricity and how electrical equipment functions on our machinery. • Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of various types of bearings and seals. • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel an asset • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively analyze situations and problem solve • Can demonstrate organizational and time management skills • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills Competencies: • Demonstrates an ability to organize work duties and manage time in an effective manner. • Cooperative and flexible worker, able to employ a service and team oriented approach. • Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail, employing a quality first attitude. • Must demonstrate the focus and ability to multitask • Demonstrate excellent initiative and proactivity
