Job Description:
Under the direction of the Senior Wastewater Operator, this position will carry out general labourer duties and heavy equipment operation for Wastewater operations. Assists with the Towns flushing and wet well cleaning programs. Assists other departments such as P & R, Roads and Water as required.
Responsibilities:
• Operates heavy equipment such as front end loaders, backhoes, tandem trucks, vacuum trucks etc. within Water and Wastewater operations.
• Cleans and flushes sewer mains.
• Repairs and inspects wet wells and manholes using proper confined space entry techniques. Repairs/replaces manholes’ frames/risers and benching. Repairs/replaces sewer and water service connections
• Acts as traffic controller during works on municipal roads.
• Using vacuum truck equipment, vacuums wet wells, septage channels and scum pits.
• Performs general maintenance when required such as painting, cleaning and small repairs of infrastructures and buildings.
• Maintains property and infrastructures including grass cutting and snow removal.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:
• Grade 12 secondary school diploma.
• Class D with Z endorsement licence, and ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract.
• Ability to pass Respirator Fit Test.
• 1-2 years of experience working with heavy equipment, preferably in a Public Works environment.
• Must have the ability to operate heavy equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
• Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
