Job Description:

Remove product from conveyor or machine, inspect and assemble according to operations standards and customer specifications.  Pack product into prescribed packaging as per instructions.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for visually inspecting all product (according to the sample board) and trimming parts when necessary
  • Assemble according to procedures, sample boards and customer requirements
  • Pack correct number of parts in bin or prescribed packaging.
  • Place correct identification label on bin or carton and stack on skid according to customer requirements
  • Place correct identification label on red scrap bin and take to regrind area during shift and at the  end of run and shift
  • Set aside parts that do not meet specification and check with Injection Coordinator for acceptable level
  • Responsible for 5S during and at the end of the shift. All items at the workstation not required by the next shift are returned to their proper place and work area is clean and neat (i.e. Packaging, components, skids etc.)
  • Notify Injection Coordinator or Set-up staff of any quality or scrap issues immediately
  • Notify technical staff of upcoming mold/colour changes via paging system with 30-60 pieces left on current run
  • Responsible for workstation setup during mold changes(i.e.) secondary equipment, sample boards,  component & packaging change as well as 5S at this time
  • Ensure that safety, plant standards and other guidelines outlined in the KCC Associate Handbook are followed (i.e.  Start and stop times, return after breaks, conduct towards others, misuse of washroom breaks etc.)
  • May participate in team problem solving and preventive/corrective action as required, specifically 5Ps and WHY WHY’s
  • Report any equipment malfunction and/or quality problems to Injection Coordinator and/or Process Technician
  • Performs break relief during their float rotation provided by the Injection Coordinator
  • Perform various other duties as required by Injection Coordinator or any Management

Additional Responsibilities:

  • May conduct  periodic inventory counts
  • May audit finished product as required
  • May perform duties of other associates in the department in their absence
  • Other duties that may be required.

Work Environment/Health and Safety:

  • Use or wear personal protective equipment or clothing required in order to perform the job tasks safely
  • Report to Injection Coordinator /Supervisor/Manager  the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective devices of which he/she is aware and which may endanger him/herself or another worker immediately
  • Report to Injection Coordinator /Supervisor/Manager any contravention of the Occupational Health & Safety Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he/she knows
  • Adhere to KCC 5-S program – Clean plant environment
  • Minimal exposure to noise
  • Fast pace work environment
  • Be aware of all posted warnings and hazards of all surrounding machinery
  • Knowledge of  ISO 14001 ISO 9001 polices and procedures

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Mental and visual alertness necessary to observe quality changes in product
  • Colour proficiency is required
  • Manual dexterity is required
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds infrequently.
  • Satisfactory work records, including attendance
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary
