Community Connect is a free bi-monthly newspaper column of upcoming South Simcoe events and volunteer opportunities that is published in partnership with the Alliston Herald.

Equipment Operator Training Information Session

Free Budgeting Workshop

The Clothes Line’s Annual Bag Sale
Mon., Mar. 15 to Sat., Mar. 20. The Clothes Line, 55 Victoria St. W., Alliston. 705-434-0790
Spring is just around the corner and The Clothes Line is holding their annual Bag Sale where you can stuff a bag full of winter clothing including shoes and purses for only $5. The Clothes Line will close at 2 p.m. on Sat., Mar. 20 and reopen with their new spring line on Mon., Mar. 22. Proceeds support CONTACT – South Simcoe Community Information Centre.

New Utopia Café

The Training Point’s new winter training guide is now available. It features a number of exciting free workshops and affordable classes that everyone in the community can enjoy. You can pick up a copy at CONTACT’s main office or go online to www.contactsouthsimcoe.ca. Funds raised from The Training Point support CONTACT’s community programs and services.

Free Drop In Community Legal Clinic

Community Legal Clinic – Simcoe, Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes will be offering free legal services starting Jan. 14. The clinic provides legal assistance in the areas of income maintenance, social assistance and employment law, government benefits, housing, consumer law, education, and human rights. The Community Legal Clinic will be available by appointment or drop in between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following dates: Feb. 18, Mar. 11, and Mar. 25.

VON Adult Day Program

Volunteers are to needed to assist in recruiting schools for our fundraising events, which includes Jump for Heart and Hoops for Heart. The position would also include helping to facilitate 'kick-off' assemblies, visiting school events, and delivering the mission message. Will be required throughout the school year, however, peak times are in April, May, and June.
